Better and Fairer Schools Agreement 2025–2034

The Better and Fairer Schools Agreement (BFSA) commenced 1 January 2025, replacing the National School Reform Agreement.

The BFSA is a joint agreement between the Commonwealth and states and territories to help create a better and fairer education system for all students.

The BFSA outlines a suite of targeted reforms to lift student outcomes, ambitious targets for improving education outcomes and strengthened funding transparency arrangements.

The BFSA will ensure all public schools in states and territories that sign, receive 100 per cent of the Schooling Resource Standard during the operation of the Agreement.

Interim School Funding Agreement 2025

The Interim School Funding Agreement 2025 (ISFA) is an interim agreement which operates for the period 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2025.

The ISFA enables Commonwealth funding for schools to be provided in 2025 while negotiations continue on the BFSA.

The ISFA shares the same objectives and outcomes as the BFSA and focuses on the 3 priority areas agreed by Education Ministers in December 2023.

It maintains the existing Commonwealth funding arrangements agreed under the National School Reform Agreement but contains national policies and priorities that are consistent with the BFSA.
